The workshop is divided into two parts: a technical class, followed by a session dedicated to researching movement and improvisation.

Using breathing as the driving force, we will begin on the floor with exercises that will increase joint mobility and the flexibility of our most deep muscles. Concepts like projection, weight, direction or impulse will be applied through the use of short phrases that establish more direct connections, creating dynamics in relation to the floor to generate movements. The space we utilize will grow, with technical combinations that are more complex in terms of coordination and rhythm.

Under clear guidelines and tasks, the research exercises will give the participants the space to explore these elements – whether individually, in pairs or as a group – and apply them to their own physical and expressive vocabulary. We will work with the same methods used in the creation processes for some of the work of Compañía Antonio Ruz.

The workshop is aimed at professional dancers, dancers in training, and actors and artists associated with movement.

Antonio Ruz is an independent choreographer and dancer. He has been directing his own company in Madrid since 2009, while continuing to collaborate with Sasha Waltz & Guests (Berlin) as a dancer, rehearsal director and choreographer, as well as on diverse creative projects with Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola, and musical and educational pieces, among other things.
